Animal receiving movements
Under the NAIT scheme, animal movements must be recorded by both the sending and receiving parties. If you receive animals but the sender does not create a sending movement for you to confirm, you can create a receiving movement. This meets your NAIT requirements even if the sender has not completed their side of the movement.
There are four different ways to create an animal sending movement. You can choose the option that suits you best:
Type in tag details
This method suits those receiving only a few animals. It requires you to type in the tag numbers manually.
Upload a tag number file
This method is suited to those using an electronic scanner to read the tags of the animals being moved. It allows you to download a file from your scanner and upload it to the NAIT system. The file may only include tag numbers.
Upload a CSV file
This method is suited to those receiving many animals. You will need some technical knowledge to use CSV files. It allows you to upload a CSV file with movement details to the NAIT system. This file may include all the movement details, not just tag numbers.
Use a paper form
If you do not have access to a computer or the internet, you can meet your NAIT obligations by using a paper form. Paper forms have a processing fee. For animal movements this is $20 for 20 or fewer animals and $1 for each animal over 20 animals.
