Animal sending movements
If you are moving an animal off farm, you must record an animal sending movement. If you send an animal to a NAIT accredited sale yard or meat processor, they will record the sending movement on your behalf.
There are five different ways to create an animal sending movement. You can choose the option that suits you best:
Select animals from list
This is the easiest method when you are moving a few animals. This allows you to select the animals you are sending from a list of your registered animals.
Type in tag details
This method suits those moving only a few animals. This requires you to type in the tag numbers manually.
Upload a tag number file
This method is suited to those using an electronic scanner to read the tags of the animals being moved. This allows you to download a file from your scanner and upload it to the NAIT system. The file may only include tag numbers.
Upload a CSV file
This method is suited to those moving many animals. You will need some technical knowledge to use CSV files. It allows you to upload a CSV file with movement details to the NAIT system. This file may include all the movement details, not just tag numbers.
Use a paper form
If you do not have access to a computer or the internet, you can meet your NAIT obligations by using a paper form. Paper forms have a processing fee. For animal movements this is $20 for 20 or fewer animals and $1 for each animal over 20 animals.
